The reserve-museum is situated in the eastern part of the Smolensk region, on the watershed of the tributaries of the biggest rivers of European Russia the Dnieper and the Volga, not far from the motorway Moscow-Minsk. The total area of the reserve-museum is about 250 km2 . More than a half of the territory is occupied by forests, in which there reserved a unique fauna: brown bear, lynx, beaver, otter, and muskrat.

The part of the complex is formed by: the museums-country-seats of A.S. Griboedov, P.S. Nahimov, A. S. Homjakov, who brought glory to Russia. The visit to the reserve-museum «Hmelita» will be interesting to all tourists, there is no doubt about it..
