Smolensk Regional center of folk creation was founded in 1939 for preserving non-material cultural legacy of the Smolensk region. The center is the coordinator of work of cultural organizations in the region. It helps in preparation and organizing inspections, competitions, festivals and holidays. There works an exhibition pavilion in the center. There is a band «Slavjane».

Regional festivals and holidays are usually bright and impressive..
